Here's a video a made yesterday morning. I had to use a piece of "inspiration," which is the blue card in the beginning. The rest of the project was up to me, and I could use any medium I wanted... so I chose to make a little video. Thanks to my roommate Eric who helped with the movie even though he was sick with Pneumonia!

Invisible Harleys

Seven weeks of my life were devoted largely to this five minute movie. Michael Figge and I created a Mario Kart parody film, using no greenscreens, shooting 13 nights, and spending over a 100 hours slaving over After Effects.

Tuxedo Junction

Finally, a unicycle movie staring my coker! This short was filmed by my good friend Michael Figge. I think the music is one of my favorite parts of this one... oh and the epic "true slow-motion" near the end :). The film's location is where I live in Isla Vista, California.

Hatisporet (The Haircut)

This is a crazy stop-motion that was made in 1 day. My housemate Elie and I came up with the idea, and I set to work on him. My friend Emil Margolis once again composed the music, which originates from a variety of sounds from around our house: skateboards, bottles, insense, drums, etc.

Bananas (Monkey Mix) *

I made this film for the "Poo Poodles Video Contest" put on by thequietlife.com. It's a stop-motion piece, set to music by the band Poo Poodles.

The Dishwasher

I made this stop-motion film one afternoon while I did the dishes. It turned out pretty cool, with music by Chuck Berry.

Comic Cowboy

This short was made for a contest put on by Apple. I made this with my two friends Will Simons and John Kalan. Here is our entry page on apple. There were 3 elements that had to be included in the film, and all of them are listed in the guidelines.

Aesthetically Pleased

This is my first movie shot on film. It was made for UC Santa Barbara's 13th Annual Reel Loud Film Festival. I made this stop-motion piece with my friend Will Simons. Our friend Emil Margolis composed the music, which turned out awesome! We ended up getting 2nd place at the film festival, which had a sold out crowd of 800.

I filmed this video early January 2006, and edited it in the next couple months. UPDATE: My film got accepted into the 2007 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Konichiwheel

This is my 59 minute documentary on my 2004 trip to the Unicycling World Championships in Tokyo, Japan. This is definitely a LONG movie, but it has some cool stuff (like nifty intro/titles/credits/music). It really gives you a start to finish of what Unicon 12 was like for me. I've broken the movie into 2 parts, as you see to the right.

Pa'ia Maui

Some old riding (2005) when I visited some relatives on Maui. My cousin there, Josh, started unicycling, but we weren't able to film anything together. This video took a long time to get online because I actually lost a bunch of footage on a tape somewhere and finally gave up locating it. So here is what I had, some fun beachside trials. Oh yeah, and I love this song.

Too Hot to Ride

This was an attempt to ride one day during the heat of the summer (2006). Kaori, Brian, and I, as well as a new unicyclist from Rocklin, Taylor, went to a skatepark with high hopes. It was so hot (triple digits), we didn't end up doing that much riding. There are a few cool tricks though, like Brian's crankflip over a firework, Kaori's usual uni-dancing, and my gap to a fence. Mostly though, we filmed these kids that were hanging out in the skatepark.

Death Valley

My friends and I went to Death Valley, CA for a camping trip in Spring 2006. Caitlin's Dad, Steve, was our guide. We stayed in a little oasis in the desert, which had all sorts of terrain. Of course I brought along my muni, and I found some funky stuff to ride on. Eric brought his muni along as well, and we explored the area while making a little movie.

Talent Show

So my dorm had a talent show, February 2006. I ended up winning, and moved on to the All-Hall talent show. It was hard to remember what tricks I planned on doing, but I did do a few cool things. I didn't realize how tired I would get, and during the act I needed to take a break. I ended up improvising a stunt that involved the audience. But mostly, the unicycling skill in this isn't that spectacular. I ended up getting 3rd place, which was sweet.

Beals Point Sirens

Zack Baldwin and I visit one of our favorite riding spots, Beal's Point. This state park is a 5 minute drive from my house, and was the location for our first movie, "Beals Point."

Campus

Here's a video that I made mostly in fall 2005. I never did anything with it, but finally I edited together a second half for it. The 2nd half is actually riding that was done in Spring 2006, but the bulk of it is a prequel to UCSB Unicycling (see below). Featuring riding by me, and special guest: Kaori Matisizama

Maidu Madness

This is a short movie of some footage I took last year (August 2005) of Zack Baldwin, Brian Lundgren, and myself. Zack has some huge hops and gaps in this... other than that it's nothing special. It does have a slick song by Gomez though.

Northstar Nincumpoops *

Zack and I took a special trip to Northstar at Lake Tahoe just to film. Usually filmming while doing muni is a pain... in this case we had the camera out most of the time which makes it different kind of ride. The viddy turned out pretty sweet! I highly reccommend waiting for the high quality version to download!

Jamba Juice Jammin

Zack, Kaori, and myself riding around Jamba Juice- with permission. No soundtrack, but the various music from inside the store works well!

Ralph's Grind Bail

Zack and I found a decent lil rail in front of a Ralph's supermarket. We must have grinded the thing 50 times... but eventually there was bound to be a hard bail.

Porch Freestyle

After getting energized by successfully doing a 360 unispin the night before, I do some freestyle on my porch with the help of my dog Checkers.

Fell In Love With a Girl

Zack and I doing trials and street at the school across from his house. At the end, I attempt to land my first 360 unispin numerous times. Slick song for a slick lil movie!

8 foot Giraffe at Halftime

I tested out my homemade 8 foot giraffe at a Basketball game Halftime fundraiser. It's hard to understand what I'm saying, but basically I'm telling about a local girl who was suffering from Leukemia and asking the crowd to donate to help her treatment. They ended up receiving about $500, way more than they ever expected. Unicyclists help save lives!

Zack's a Whale

Fun evening riding near my house.. Zack does some monstrous gaps on rocks, I do a little BC wheeling, and one of us gaps some lunch line separators at a nearby school. Guest appearance by my friend Laura. By the way, Zack's commentary at the end isn't true.

BC Action/ Street n Trials

Some basic BC stuff at an elementary school near my house (I went to school there for 9 years). Also, some night street/BC/trials riding by Zack, Brian, and myself.

6 foot Giraffe at Rally

I rode John Hooten's 6 foot Giraffe dressed up as a Pirate at my high school's Homecoming Rally. Our senior theme was "Swashbuckling Seniors" and I made up a lame rhyme to yell into a microphone while I rode around wildy.

KFC Showdown *

Zack Baldwin, Brian Lundgren, and myself do a bunch of street, trials, and muni! There isn't that much Muni though. This turned out pretty neat, and the music goes really smooth with it. As for the KFC part, you will have to watch it to see! We did a ride on a Friday night at a nearby high school, and the Muni stuff the next morning at the wicked trials in Auburn. The high quality version has some different clips in it at the end...

Rainy Day Riding

I was riding around my house today, and it started raining. So I kept riding, and eventually got my camera. I edited it into a nice, 2 min 45 sec movie. It has rail riding (while it's raining), some grinding, and some street moves.

Saturday Night Trials

Zack and I went riding around to a few locations on a Saturday night. We filmed some, and I put together some shots into a nice little movie.

TV segment (ESPN coverage of Unicon 12)

ESPN did a segment on a few USA rider who were at Unicon. The riders were John Foss, Jack Hughes, Zack Baldwin, Nathan Hoover, and myself! This segment turned out really well! This is in the divx video format. Download the codec here.

Hot Trials

This movie was filmed while visiting Venice Beach, in Los Angeles. My Dad was nice enough to film me tearin' up the Beach area. Some stuff in it: grinding, trials, street riding, a lil gliding, some unispins and one ft. wheel walk. A cool movie!!

BC Wheeling

Beals Point

Zack Baldwin and I found some awesome rock trials lines, made some with picnic tables, did some wicked cool gliding, and had a great time. This is at Beal's Point, Folsom Lake, California: Jan. 31, 2004. We also met a drunken bum. He's in this movie, unfortunatly using profanity.
